Mel Patterson is a surf artist based in PB, San Diego. A trained artist and professional graphic designer since 2006, she rediscovered her passion for painting in 2020 - creating pieces that brought the beach indoors during a time when California's coastline was temporarily out of reach. 

Inspired by her deep love for the ocean and coastal living, Mel’s work celebrates the energy and beauty of the sea. Her favorite subjects include ocean waves, beachscapes, and tropical flowers. Influenced by her background in Japanese printmaking, she uses acrylic paint pens to create intricate line work and vibrant color palettes that capture the spirit of island warmth and west coast ease. 

Mel’s work ahs been featured in Women’s Surf Style Magazine and exhibited in shows including the Super Girl Surf Pro Art Expo, Oceanside, California and Surfing the Pacific Rim art Exhibition, Hunting Beach, California

Joey Taylor is a photographer from San Diego that finally got to live out his dream in 2024; leaving his full time job of 7 years to travel the world, camera-in-hand.
Joey’s photography hobby turned into a passion in college.  Studying Geology in Northern Arizona, he was inspired by the many incredible desert landscapes of the American Southwest that he studied during class field trips. Nature became his Church. And his camera was a tool to access and tap into the divine.

After graduating and moving back to San Diego, he spent his first paycheck on a surfboard and shifted his vision towards the Ocean.

Besides Photography and Geology, he has developed a love for cinematography, free diving, scuba diving, hot yoga, backpacking, camping, and live music.

Since he traveled solo for most of 2024, he feels extremely grateful to be able to share his images with family and friends through this gallery.

He believes in promoting joy, kindness and the cultivation of inner peace.

He wants to remind us how amazing this life journey can be when we stop and take a moment to appreciate the beauty all around us.

Hayley is a Canadian artist originally from Southern Ontario. She studied Fine Art at the Ontario College of Art and Design. After completing her degree in 2008, she was drawn west—first to the ocean in Tofino, and later to the mountains of BC’s Interior. Now splitting her time between Revelstoke, BC, and Baja California Sur, MX, Hayley remains deeply connected to both mountain and surf culture.

Her work is rooted in the profound experiences of nature, exploring the mind-expanding power of activities that engage both body and soul. Her latest paintings—vivid, unconventional landscapes—bring nature’s complexities to life through bold color, smooth blending, and precise brushstrokes. For Hayley, painting transcends the limitations of language, allowing her to share the awe and inspiration she feels in the natural world. The mountains and ocean continue to be her greatest teachers.
